Default Softail Nostalgia

Anyone own or previously owned one? What is your opinion of the bike? I had a later model 06 Softail Deluxe that I regret selling last year. I now can't really afford spending $15k on another Deluxe, so I've been looking at the 95 and 96 Nostalgias. Many are under $10k with good miles. I love carbed bikes and the look of the Nostalgia, which is basically the Deluxe, but older version. I've also heard good things about the evo motor. Do you guys think I would like it, taking in to consideration that I am used to the ride of my Deluxe? I ride a lot with my wife and we plan on traveling a little on my next bike (moderate to long trips). Am I foolish for considering this bike based on what I've told you? I really don't want input on other bikes, just what you think my satisfaction level would be if I made this purchase. Would I regret it, what do you think? Thanks

Not sure if this is what you want but I recently rode a 06 Heritage. I didn't like it near as much as my 95 Heritage.

I don't know you as a person or you likes and dislikes but in my opinion the carbed EVO is a much better ride.

Nobody here can tell you what you will like more. Only you can determine that.

Oh Baby!
YOu will NEVER regret going Evo.
The '95 or a '96 is an xlnt ride and good for two-up. Need more juice? tons of easy do-it-yourself mods to choose from.
Did I mention that you will never regret choosing Evo?

iv'e owned my 96' Heritage for 6 years now and would never get rid of her. The wife and i ride two up alot and i'm a big guy, together we weigh about 400 lbs and the bike handles it and the road just fine. And as aamax mentioned tons of easy mods came be done at a resonable price. The evo motor is near indestructable, easy to do you own maintenance, and you can get a lot of help from the guys here on the forum. All said you will not regret buying a Heritage with a evo motor. If shop around you should be able to pick one up with under 20-30,000 miles on it for under $8000. So ya got get yourself one.

Hi MJHJEA!

Just to clarify, regardless being the same bike (except for the colors) the "Nostalgia" was just made in 1993, limited bike, just 2700 units numbered on the dash board. The following models are named "Special". (Just say it because maybe you can get a better deal from the seller.)

- 1993 Heritage Softail® Nostalgia - FLSTN
- 1994, 1995, 1996 Heritage Softail® Special - FLSTN

You can read more information about it on this forum´s thread.

1994 FLSTN - numbered?

I think you´ll like it, in fact the Deluxe directly follows it´s look. It´s a great bike that will give you years of riding pleasure if it has been well treated. Performance will benefit by beefing it with carburetor, cam, etc. (regular stage 1-2-3 stuff).

Mine is on the family from 1993 (my father ordered as soon as it appeared, received in october 1992) and still kicking! :-) I own it from a few years ago, and can´t be happier, the "feel" while riding it is outstanding. :-)

As when I got my hands on it had near 200.000 Km. and was covered in the garaje for about four years, ordered a full engine rebuild, leaving it like fresh new. You can see some pictures on the garage. :-)

Recently installed an Andrews EV-13 cam. Love it, BIG improvement in lows & mids.

These are the main mods I have on the bike:

Mikuni HSR 42 carb.
2 into 1 exhaust.
K&N Air Filter
Screamin´ Eagle Coil.
Screamin´ Eagle Ignition.
Andrews EV-13 cam.
Torrington cam bearing.
Crane Cams hi perf hydraulic tappets.

Cheers,

That's my '94 FLSTN "Special" in my avatar. I've owned it since '93 and it has 172,000 miles on it. I love it and plan to ride it as long as I can keep it running.

Nostalgia 93, thanks for that info. I did not realize the Nostalgia was only in 93. And to everyone else who responded. I have my eye on a 95, mint, 12k miles. It's been up for sale for quite a while. They are asking just under $10k. What do you guys think a fair or even a great buy would be?
