Then again, is ANY motor really "idiot proof"?

I think in 92 is when they went to the not as good INA cam brg. instead of the full roller Torrington. The later ones had better lifters, but I am not sure when they changed them. My 99 has 35,000 on it, and runs really well. I am an EVO fan for sure. A great motor that is easy to work on if you ever have to.

I love mine, but A/C's for head breathers are easier to find than for CC breathers. And mine doesn't make a mess. There is a chrome tube that goes from the CC to the A/C and there is never a dripping mess like some say. And there are more exhaust and frame stabilizer options for later Evo tourers.
Mine has 71,000 miles.

I know if you were to send a '90 evo for a reman job you get the latest version of upgrades back. But if you send a case breather motor in, do you get a head breather motor back?.,,

Red face

The reason I like the Evo is that it is identical to a BSA C15 250cc single inside. Oh, except it's got an extra cylinder! So I am still riding a bike like the one I first learned to ride on, way back when. Except it's seven times bigger.....
