Default possibly adding a 3rd scoot, 92 tour glide

Hey guys, anyone have a link for information of the year to year changes for evo powered touring scoots... going to look at a 1992 tour glide this afternoon and want some good reading in the meantime... the only thing i know about the scoot is that it has around 40k miles and has had a andrews ev26 cam installed... any well known problematic areas that i should inspect/question when looking for this particular year?

This will be our third hog purchase ... currently ride a 02 dyna t-sport everyday on a 60 mile commute to work and have a 2000 fxr4 fun bike... this will be used on trips with the wife for more comfort..etc.. should be able to get the scoot for around 5-5.5k and it seems to be in very good shape for the year

I just bought an '88 Tour Glide last week. Love the bike, but i didnt inspect it well enough before purchase.

Base gasket leaks are quite common on pre '94 Evo's from what i have read so check that. What bit me in the butt however was a head gasket leak on my rear cylinder. I saw the seeping but got blinded by the bike in total. Look for seepage / stains on the fins as well as bluing on the rear cylinder exhaust due to oil burning on it.

If i recall right major changes on tour glides happened in '84 - evo motor. '86 Fairing redesign and i think tape players became stock that year? And '94 when the evo motor got some minor redesigns. The info is hard to find on the net, but its out there.

Nice looking Tour Glide. I love mine. I also had a head gasket issue and ended up putting a remanned engine in it. They are an acquired taste in the looks department, but I think they are great. The benefits of the shark-nose to me way out-weigh the bat wing of the electra glides.

I fully agree, though this is coming from a guy that is obsessed with AMC Gremlins, so my opinions maybe a bit unreliable.

we looked at it... not sure yet... the vent tube at start up had oil building in the line... he said it would do it if the bike had not been rode in awhile, but would not do it if ridden regularly ... he also had the right side bag off when we got there.. i think he was charging up the battery .... the bike itself looked pretty good... did say the odometer had been changed and he was thinking the bike had around 49k... this new odometer had 9k and he said if he could still find the original it had around 40-42k....
