Welding the casings like that is a mission because you gotta get the welded area true and flat with the rest of the case without taking too much off the case or the clearances will be wrong. It isn't that it can't be done but is a PITA.....swap meet time!

Ya I thought the same as I walked into work tonite, but I'll know better for sure in the next couple weeks if it holds the fluid. Any idea upto what year case would do the job?

No idea on the cases but I don't think they changed until 2006 when the 6 - speed came out.

Thanks Spanners looks like I'm swapping out the tranny, drain Plug threads are shot and the 1/4" rod fix I did is leaking. But on the bright side the tranny was sooooooo smooth. I started a new thread as I'm sure you can share some of your tricks there.
