so the center/ safety brake light on my tour pak is on constant and goes dark when i hit the brakes. meanwhile my fender taillight is acting normal so rules out bad brake light switch. truthfully dont remember if its a running/ brake or just brake light. prob both as there are 3 wires a green brown and black. its a wedge type socket i tried a new bulb 3157 was what was in the socket, is that the correct bulb? wrong bulb is only thing i can think of and i cant find my test light.
other possibility is i did a quick detach and it appears that light has a chassis ground to base plate in pak. quick detach bushings are plastic. leeaving for americade tomoro hoping to have brake light

 

Those symptoms would be in line with a bad ground....first thing I would check.

 

My tour pak lights flash 3 times and then go dark when I hit the brakes.

 

ya what i was thinking too with the plastic bushings on the quick detach system any chassis ground would be gone , but it is lighting 5 bulbs although the 4 side markers may have a wired ground through the plug

 

interesting i wonder if that is some kinda modulator?

 

fixed it. they grounded the side running lights through the plug but the center brake light to chassis. just spliced the ground into the ground wire for the running lights so im still quick disconnect

 

Well done. That's the first electrical problem in ages that we all thought might be down to a poor ground, that turned out to be just that!
