Default lending out your bike

I know the line, "Take my woman, just don't touch the bike." But I'm a lot older now and hell I've grown up right? I lent my bike out to a good friend of mine today and I still shat myself.

Whenever I've had a couple of scoots at the same time I always let friends ride, but I was always with. Like that should make a difference.

So what says you???
You ever lend out your ride without you near it?
I had one bad experience, but I was 13 and my RM80 came back with bent forks... boo hoo.

Depends on the friend. I have a couple I wouldn't trust with a tire iron but I have others I'd entrust my life to without question. If I trust them with my life I'd trust them with my bike.

That's funny. I was the same way for most of my riding life. There were a very few select people who were 'good' enough to use my bike. I don't know if it's because I'm older now or because I live down here but I really don't mind letting someone else take my bike for a spin although I still base that decision on how worthy I think they are. Down here you see people swapping bikes a lot, especially when there's a ride here and our bikes are in containers heading to another island.

Not just no but hell no.
Neither a borrower nor lender be. I was told that most of my life. Hell I don't loan out tools either. Too many times they came back broken (if they came back at all).

I guess I see things from a different view.
While I value my ride's they are that a machine not a person.
I have two Hd's and I have loaned one out on occasion .
Times like we were getting ready to leave on a ride and friends bike died. It was a no brain-er toss them they key and switch the gear hit the road.
My bikes are insured so I was not really concerned about it.
Other time someone visiting , others showed up we wanted to ride so loaned him a ride.
Comes down to when and why.
Other than that my ride I do as I darn well please with it.
It is Metal, plastic and paint it can be fixed or replaced.

If I trust them and they can afford to replace it then I let people borrow it......bad for my blood pressure though....

I will trade while riding with friends, but I don't let friends that don't think enough about having a bike of their own even think about riding my Glide.

NOPE, NEVER, NO WAY!!!
I don't even like people sitting on it.
I loaned a metric I used to own to a couple friends on different occasions. EVERY time it came back scratched up from them dumping it.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone that really respects me as a friend, wouldn't even ask.

They probably didn't fall off....they just parked it outside the wrong bar and it got its *** kicked by Evo riders as they walked past
