I will let someone borrow my bike. Just as soon as I stop breathing.

We had a get together and a couple guys came down from Nova Scotia Canada. Let one of them take my bike for the day. He has a shovel too so no big deal. They got the opportunity to ride the mountains and loved it.

That may very well be, but it was in the care of "friends." And it ruined it for anyone else.

I loaned a metric I used to own to a couple friends on different occasions. EVERY time it came back scratched up from them dumping it.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone that really respects me as a friend, wouldn't even ask.
About the way I feel!

I agree that friendship is more important than a machine. I love my bike, and would let my friends ride it without hesitation. Key word is "my friends". They would never ask, I would never ask to ride theirs, but would offer if there was a need. Since they are my friends I know they would treat it like their own, and if anything did happen it would be an accident. I know they would make it right and what they couldn't insurance would. My friends are way more imnportant than anything I "own". I think the key here is I have about 5-6 people I would call "friends". I have lots of people I hang out with, but a select few friends.

I had a friends brother give me the keys to his brand new wide glide SE so I can ride it around to do an inspction on it, I had NEVER ridden a bike beore. I told him this multiple times and he showed me what to do, he didn't care it was just a machine (an insured machine) to him. Nothing bad happened and I igured it out in about a second but it blew me away that he gave me the keys and said "try it out." It may have pushed me even more into MC riding.

good point. It all depends on what the word "friend" means to you.

Let me think.............................NO,no, no
I would not want to loose a friend over a scratch on the tank.....or worse his fault or not. I just wouldn't.
