Default Looking in my exhaust ports...

I'm in the process of replacing the exhaust on The Moonraker... my '85/'99 FXR(1985 bike, '99-"crate motor"). The "new" motor has right at 80,000 mi. on it, never been opened. I've been running Python 3 pipes with a K-N air cleaner and S&S SuperE carb. Carb jets are: 29.5 intermediate and 70 main. Living and (mostly) riding in Florida...Sea Level.
Soo...when I pulled the Pythons, I took a look inside the exhaust chambers....everything with any buildup on it inside is WHITE. No tan, No Black...
Is this an indication of running too lean...??
Wondering if I don't need to go up in one or both carb. jets...??
The Pythons were "blued" all the way from the heads to the mufflers.
Thanks for your thoughts....

I would say you are running really lean. Readjust your fuel/air mixture screw.

If your exhaust is blued and everything inside is white, you're really lean. Time to rejet.

As an aside, how do the plugs look, and can you post a pic?

A pic of the plugs...

These are NGK Iridium BPR5EIX-11 with 20,000 mi. on them.
NO operational issues, in fact the bike has been running real well. Just back from a 2200 mi. run to DC for Rolling Thunder.

You are just running a tad lean and don't have any apreciable oil running down the valve stem. You could go up one step in the jets. Other than that no worries!!

God job posting the pics. You usually don't have to skin up your knuckles doing that... I want you to use a socket next tome, not your hands. jk Anyway, I'm looking at the pic on my phone and you are DEFINITELY running lean, as further evidenced by the pipes turning blue (unless they are really cheap pipes, which your post indicates they are not). Rich is not a big deal lean really is.

Thanks Jethro...;-)...I wondered why they were so hard to pull this time..???!!!
PLUG wrench...!!! What'll they think of next..!!
Those were a new pair of Python 3 pipes, which I don't think fall into the "cheapo" category.
I'm thinking of going up to a 31 intermediate and 72 main before putting the new pipes on....(whatever they turn out to be, jury is still out on that) If those fatter jets hurt the performance too much, but don't burn up the pipes, I can always lean it back out. I also pulled the NGK's and put a set of Champion "Copper Plus" plugs back in her: #404, flrmerly known as: RN12YC. They oughta be easier to "read" than the iridium or platinum plugs I've been running.

No need to re-jet. I am running smaller jets than yours and don't have your problems. All you have to do is reset your fuel/air mixture screw.
