Default What the he** happened?.

I went for a well deserved ride yesterday after power washing the house, and after a 40 mile ride I noticed oil leaking from the 2 bolts that hold the back of the air cleaner on [ its the stock one]. Front and back one. Oil is running towards the front of the front head and getting blown around, and on the rear of the head and dripping on the exhaust and trans cover. I didn't change anything like the oil, so how does a simultaneous leak happen?.,,

Those 2 bolts are actually your crank case breathers. As to why they're blowing oil, I'll let someone else field that question, because I'll probably be wrong.

If you never had a problem with oil leaking from the crank case breathers, something could have gotten plugged up and your motor might be sumping. You don't say what bike you have; older motors had a check valve that if the spring broke could allow oil back into the engine. Your breather valves could be plugged up or worn out. Also if there's too much oil in the oil tank, this will force oil out the breathers. Most bikes will leak a bit of oil which is more mist than anything (that's the purpose of the breathers in the first place). If you all the sudden started dumping oil out where you never had a problem before than something changed and is plugged up or broke.

It is possible that they are simply loose and need to be tightened. Use a torque wrench...10-12 ft. lbs.

I had a similar problem on my 06 UC and it was one of the breather bolts got loose. Mine wallowed out the threads in the head from vibrating and I had to put a heli-coil in to fix it.

My bike is a '96 Evo e- glide cop bike. I checked both the bolts and they are real tight.Surprising oil is not running out of the air cleaner. ?.,,

The O-Rings around the fittings that thread into the heads have a tendency to weep oil after time...What carb/air filter do you have?

Google "harley" "sumping" and you'll find a ton of information about oil blowing out your breathers.
