I dont get this whole thing ... I just bought a 90 ex police and am not looking for " big power " as i dont believe its available in a air cooled v twin . My last was a 1500 GoldWing and it was great as a haul *** touring bike with 6 cyls. etc.
How are you going to put up a air cooled v twin against that ????
I bought this hog this year because ive always wanted a " Harley " and can now afford one , even an old one ! Can any one else say any different ... Come on Harley baby ... im waiting for spring .!

Some of us prefer a Harley to a Gold Wing and do serious touring on our Glides. There is a genuine Harley TC motor that can match a GW for torque and after-market Evo-style motors that can as well. My ole lady from 1990 now has 107TQ, not so far short of a new GW1800 with 123 and, taking their gross weights into account, has about the same performance.

So you can have it all in one 1990 bike!

I never expected the bike to be a rocket - I just want to help it to be all it can be. I had a twin running 103 HP before, and any sport bike could make that look like it was tied to a stump in a race. For me, it is more just being able to improve what is there without trying to be the fastest out there.

I just installed an Andrews EV-27 cam, performance carb, high volume intake, performance ignition and exhaust.

16% hp increase.

I have a 95 flht with an 89" stroker, Crane cam and ignition, Super G carb and head work. I am at 5000' and get 80hp and 80 ft lbs of torque.
I don't know what it would do at sea level but it works for me in the hills.

I think it's just going to be the cam change for now. The old girl just runs too good to mess with too much yet. I see other threads about oil usage and this one does not use any oil and runs great so far. It sounds like the cam change will help me out some, and I can worry about going further during our hibernation period here in Minnesota. I can change the cam on a rain day and not waste any riding time waiting for machining and things like that. Thanks for all the input.

I just realized I made a mistake here...

The stock hp on a 1340 was lower then originally thought. So based on a stock hp rating of 55hp with the mods I've installed it's a 24% hp increase for 68hp.

That sound right?
