Default Yep, another cam install question

Sorry guys I did do some searches and lots of reading but was unable to find the answer. I'm in the middle of installing a new V Thunder 3010 cam with new V Thunder lifters and adj pushrods. Now I'm a mechanic by trade and am 100% confident in my work. After a few fittings I found that my new cam is going to require a .07 in shim. Which leaves me .008 end play measured between the trust washer and shim ( the .008 is with new gasket installed and snug but not full torqed) I'm figuring I'll squish about .002-.003 when nose cone is torqed properly leaving me with .006-.005 end play. Anyways sorry for rambling on. My question is when I added the .07 shim it makes the cam gear about .05-.07 futher out than the pinon gear and breather. Is this OK? Did I receive the wrong shims? They only fit on the engine case side of the cam. Do they make shims for nose cone side of cam? Or am I worried about nothing?
thanks, Pete

You're worried about nothing. Although I will tell you that .007 is a little tight, in my opinion anyway, I run about .010-.015 clearance. Chad oh and ps, you'll love that camshaft. Good luck

Like gsxr stated, .010"-.015" will be fine. S&S recommends .015" for B-T Cam end-play. The shims fit only on the engine case end of the cam.

I just redid mine and set it to .012 end play even though manual says .050. Take the shim out and you'll be good to go. Manual says subtract .006 for gasket squish. You didn't mention yr of bike.

Oh sorry it's a 1994 FXSTC. Yea I was a little puzzled at first seeing that most peolpe are using .055 shims. Now I don't doubt you guys for a minute but the instuctions that came with cam say to set end play at .001-.016 Thats a pretty big window. .001 is super tight and doesn't even seem to make much sense doesn't leave a whole lot of room for oil to work around. On the other hand the instructions also say to check end play between cam gear and trust washer Who wrote these instuctions?
Not sure if this link will work......http://www.vthunder.com/Instructions/Files/VT176.pdf
My Harley manual says
"Cam gear end play............(loose)0.001-0.050 " again what kind of spec is that??
Ok so I'm going swap out to a .065 shim and that should put me in the .010-.011 range.
RidemyEvo yea I read that .006 squish it seemed a little much to me considering how wack there other specs are. Bottom line when it's torqued up and done I'll still be rechecking it and if it's not right I'll take it back apart. I'm only trying to prevent keep squishing this new gasket soo many times. I run Mobil 1 oil and as we all know that oil likes to find leaks so I'm trying to save that final squish for the final fit (fingers crossed)
Thanks guys you Rock

Yep that's why I asked what yr, I'm at work right now but I know certain yrs had very large tollerances including ours. Be sure to check breather clearance as well, I think it's .001 to .011.
