Those damn things slip if they even come close to road paint or tar snakes!!!
IMO they are the worst tire you could put on your bike...the Elite series on the other hand is a great tire!!!!

I've run Metzler Mezlasers on my bike before. It's a crotch rocket tire. I read somewhere that at the time, road racers were using them as a rain tire. Lower profile, sat lower, tremendous grip, but didn't last that long on a big heavy overloaded FLHT. I think Lasertec is the current version. Have them on Dr.L's bike.

Got the Avon mounted on the rim. No tire machine, just my hands, a new set of $20 amazon tire tools and a tire iron I made 25 years ago from an old printer. Actually, first tire I've done myself in 25 years. The last one, I went to a friend and we used his tire machine. It was so much work even on the machine that I figgered I'd just do it myself on the shop floor. Didn't take the brake caliper or pulley off, just left them on. It went on really well. Still need to service out the bearings and put it back on the bike.
