thanks for the replies men. I've read that to do a carb conversion yer lookin at 6-800 bucks??? And there's something about swapping gas tanks? I know you'd have to install a petcock, but what's the scoop with changin tanks and what's involved to do the entire conversion? I'm talking...to get it done "right".
Thanks

There is a list somewhere on here for HD parts but I went a different route, used a donated CV and intake off a Twinkee, Ultima 2000I programable ignition kit with coil, comes with a wiring harness that attaches to a unused white wire with a black tracer under the fuel tank and that is it, money total was half of your estimate.
Installing the Pingel adapter in the tank is the hardest part, have to grind out the brazing to remove the steel tubes and needs patience, will need the expensive Pingel shut off valve for the Pingel adapter. The easiest way is to buy the Mikuni 42 easy kit and purchase a carbed tank if you know a painter, the Mikuni kit covers all of the supporting items needed and simpifies the install
Done "right" can look different from inside each persons head but if money and persistance is "right", Mikuni 42 easy kit, carbed tank, HD wiring harness and direct plug in ignition module to get a plug and play electronics. I don't think the Evo factory carb wire harness is available any more, have to use the Twinkee harness and cut to fit, some have found the Evo harness used and scored on some left over new harnesses.

good info, thanks bagger. I never thought about ignition.
Since I don't "have" to buy another scooter in a said time frame, believe I'll stick to my guns and just keep lookin for a carbed model. I was just curious if I come across a really sweet deal on a FI model, would it be worth the added $$$ and headache to do a conversion.

I have a 96 road King with M&M. A ran a Rev tech tuner when I upgraded cam and pipes and air intake but I could never get a flat spot tuned out of it. I switched to a Cobra FI2000 powrpro and no more flat spot. I can believe people have issues with M&M but so far no real problems with mine.
