Default 1991 oil cooler hook up

Hello. PLEASE can someone give me a diagram of how to hook up an oil cooler to a 1991 flhtc Electragilde. Any help greatly appreciated. I have tried finding this and it seems like it's not available. If possible show the line connections on the physical bike.

Thanks in advance

Find the line that goes from the oil pump to the oil filter. The cooler is put in that line. Run a new hose from the oil pump up to the cooler, then from the cooler back to the oil filter. I recommend using a cooler with a thermostat in it or using a separate thermostat.

When I put an oil cooler on my bike I found that Harley had used metal hoses under the engine. I used an oil filter adapter to solve this problem of rerouting the oil lines without messing up the metal lines. http://www.jagg.com/filter-adapters.htm

Not sure if this will fit your bike but it makes it a lot easier to put in an oil cooler.

If you check the listing you used, it is for use on the Front Oil Filter.
The OP has a 1991. The filter is under the transmission. That part would make the filter stick down and get knocked off.

The oil lines originally ran from the oil pump under the transmission to the filter. First replace the original line that run from the oil pump to the filter with a new line to the cooler. Then place the oil line with a new line from the cooler to the filter under the transmission. Cable tie the new oil lines to the bottom frame all of the way back. Don't try to move the lines in between the motor and transmission. If you do, there will be added stress and movement on the lines when the motor is running. Just run the line from the oil pump up one side. And the return down the other side. This will give a lot of room for the lines and when it comes to filter change time.

The oil should go through the filter before it goes to the oil cooler.

It is easier for the pump to push hot oil through the filter, then through the cooler.

That's not how the factory put oil coolers on our bikes, Dan. "Should" and how the MoCo does are are not necessarily the same.

A factory installed oil cooler on an Evo?

Whenever an oil cooler and an oil filter are in the same circuit, it is better to push the hot oil through the filter first, on some engines you may not have a choice, but on an Evo you do.

Well, the Factory is installing oil coolers on TC but has offered Factory Oil Cooler Kits with instructions for many years.
In the Instructions that came in the Factory Oil Coolers said to install the cooler on the line coming out of the motor and route it back to the filter.
The adapters made for the Front Mount Oil filters are made to take the hot oil from the motor and route it to the cooler before the filter. You think it is better to place the filter first, but Harley does not make them that way.
