I'm thinking of going back to a stock type spoke wheel on the rear. Problem is that I sold the original wheel when I installed a chromed FXSTC solid wheel.
My question is - is the stock wheel 3" wide or 3.5"??
My '85 still has the stock wheel, it's 16x3. I thought about switching to a FXSTC rear rim too. Did you have to use different axle spacers to put the solid wheel on, or do the stock ones work?
I made the change in 1987, so it hard to be sure. I'm pretty sure I used the stock spacers. You have to change the hardware for the pulley and rotor. The bolts go into threaded holes in the cast wheel, not thru the hub with nuts like the spoke wheel. My whhel was taken off a brand new 87 FXSTC and was sent to Browns Plating, where they polished the textured center section smooth and then plated the whole wheel. Its still in great shape, just not the look I'm after right now. Send me a PM if you want to make a deal for it.
