Well Jim, it's like this! I have used 130/90, 140/90 and 150/80 in my 1990 bike. 130/90 is the same as the stock MT and 140/90 is close to MU, which is actually 140/85. To get in the 140 I had to trim the rubber part of the belt guard, as I had only 3/16" clearance between belt and tyre.
I have read about people getting in a 150, but I was not able to get one in with the stock set-up. I tried using a spacer behind the pulley, but there is not enough room. I now have a 2007 swingarm and wheel, plus later narrow belt, which gives plenty of room for a 150.
Hope that helps.

If you don't want to do any mods, put a 130 on it and move on. A 150 is too big for the wheel and will kill the handling if you put it on the 3" rim. Unless you step up and put at least a 180 on it, no one is likely to notice anyway.
Buy a 4" wheel and offset kit and you can get a 150/160 on there.http://www.kandgcycles.com/Sprocket-...85-L-Also.html

A 150/80 is fine on a 3" rim, although I wouldn't go any bigger. I've been using one for a couple of years on my Glide and have toured on it extensively, fully loaded. Handling is fine, especially using Avon Venoms!
On early Evos the rear fender is a limiting factor, as the 150 is a very snug fit! Anything wider will require a suitable wider fender, so a surgeon's knife will be the order of the day.
I'll let you know how I get on fitting my 4.5" wide Deuce wheel, if that proves successful. I plan using an Avon Storm 160/70. With a narrow belt and later spec fender I don't reckon anything wider will go in.
