Default Spun Oil Pump Shaft Gear

Got an evo where the return side of the oil pump grenaded, in doing so this caused the key that locks the gear that drives the oil pump shaft to shear and now the gear spun the thickness of the key on the shaft, might as well be welded. There is no room to beat, pull, or pry on the shaft or the gear, anybody had this problem before, any ideas on how to get the gear off the oil pump shaft?

All responses greatly appreciated!

Maybe some heat on the gear and pry or pull it off.

The easiest/safest way we found is to remove the engine, weld a connecting nut on the end of the shaft, then use a slide hammer to pull it out. Next remove and replace the oil pump shaft bushing and you will be ready to go. You will need to flush out all the oil lines and oil bag/pan, if you find debris don't forget to flush out the engine too. Then you need too find out what is coming apart and getting into the pump or you will be doing this again soon. Hope this helps.

Thats the answer I needed, THANK YOU GREATLY, I was getting to wits end thinking of drilling case and punching it out and rewelding or splitting cases and cutting the gear off, your method is MUCH better.

BEST HELP I EVER GOT ON A FORUM, ITS ALL GOOD, BUT THIS WAS THE MOST CRITICAL, THANK YOU.
