Question MPH/Metric Speedo?

You chaps are a knowledgeable lot. As some of you know, we Browns have taken a fancy in recent years to touring sur le Continent, where everything is metric. As a result, my MPH-only speedo makes keeping to funny speed limits a bit of a challenge!

My current solution is a number of ugly stickers on the otherwise beautiful instrument bread-bin binnacle glass, which I know so many of you love and admire.

I have recently discovered there have in the past been dual mph/kph speedos for our Evo Glides and wonder if any of you know of a supplier where a dial with both of them on it can be got? The parts book shows two different dials for both mph and kph speedos, but not a dial with both.

Get a sticker printer to do a KPH overlay on that static-cling plastic so there is no glue...a transparent one that goes on the glass.

I ride in NZ with a MPH speedo and all the signs are metric down here...its easy to do...once you are over 70MPH you are speeding ;-)

If you have a GPS.....why not use that?

The speedo sensor went bad on my Low Rider a few years ago and I used my GPS until the sensor came in. I know my TomTom has MPH and KPH....

Just a thought

Thumbs up

My bike has the early combined speedo/tacho, so the dials are not round. Some useful tips chaps, so thanks for that. I am also doing some digging over here in the UK and may come up with a solution soon.

I also have a TomTom, which has speed on it, so that is an alternative, but the numbers are a bit small for these rheumy ole eyes!

I only know of the single version.....It would be cool if you could find the dual version.

LOL, I thought I was the only one doing that. My speedo died almost two years ago and I'm too cheap to lay out the 300 bucks to get a new one.

I'm losing the will to live, going through that website! It's wonderful. They have several speedo styles, but scattered through their inventory. They include 120MPH, 200KPH, 180KPH with inner MPH, 80MPH with inner KPH (with highlighted 55MPH!), I've lost count, all new, but not MPH/KPH, which I would prefer. I have a spare speedo if I need one, so will look further into getting one of the dials modified.
