I just bought a very sweet, very eagle chrome goodied, garage kept 98 FXD Super w/ 8300 miles for 5.5k from a private seller here in Atlanta, my first Harly ever @ 52. Still had the original Dunlop Elites on it. Owner had just installed Cycle Shack Slip-ons and carb kit on stock motor. Dyno sheet said 61 hp and 72 tq. New tires, fluids and shocks, (been doin my own wrenchin 4evr).
Congrats!
Last fall (Age of 43) I just purchased the same bike with 19k miles for 6k...you did very well. In my defense in Canada our bikes are priced a little higher then the US.
I am in the process of replacing EVERYTHING rubber on it, started with the original Dunlop Elites (good tread left but dry rot cracks and harder than the wife just before payday).
I just picked up an extraordinarily clean '98 Fatboy as my first Harley (for my 44th birthday). I couldn't be happier, but when you buy your own presents, they usually make you smile.
I also have a 98 RKC 14 inch bars s&s intake and cams done runs like an animal and may be for sale alway looking for change
I also would like to know what makes the 98 so special
HD did some 'improvements' to the V-twin motor after 98.
Always looking for a change, rather, an addition. Currently kinda fixated on a RG with a 120R. Or an old RK with a 124 S&S would suffice.
Go big or go home
