Parts Fit?
After bringing home my wifes 89 Heritage which is chrome all over the place I'm now looking to dress up my 89 flhtp this winter with some chrome covers. Anyone know from what year to what year will fit on a 89 flhtp for outer and inner primary covers , 3 pc rocker covers and nose cone?
Along with oem numbers for helping out in the search? I would also imagine there are aftermarket out there as well.
Thanks

Ok so did I perhaps not make the question clear or has no one been adventurous with there evo's ?
I heard today that upto 07 the only thing that changed on the inner primary is the jack shaft which was made smaller with less teeth and that the guy thinks that if the inner of the newer flh will bolt on then the newer outer for that inner will bolt on, has anyone heard this first hand?

On the Touring model, the outer and inner Primary changed with the change of cases in 1993 model year. The Oil Tank was moved under the transmission. Harley used the same inner Primary (60661-86A) and Outer Primary cover (60664-85B) between the 1986-1993 on Touring models (except the FLHS). You can not use the Primary used after the change.
The Nose cone was changed with the change of the cases in 1993.
The Nose Cone was the same cone used from 1980 to 1992 (25268-80A). You can not use the Nose cone used after the change.
The crank case vent moved to the head in 1992. The Rocker Box tops changed to use a butterfly valve. The box tops from those years can be used on earlier motors. Just don't use the Butterfly Valve. That means that you can use any year Rocker Box top on your motor. Just be sure not to mix the years parts. If you use earlier boxes, use all early parts. The part numbers are as follows:
1980-1992
Rocker Box Cover (Top) 17528-84A
Rocker Box Spacer 17529-84A
Rocker Box Cover (Bottom) 17530-84B
1993-All
Rocker Box Cover (Top)17528-92
Rocker Box Spacer 17529-92
Rocker Box Cover (Bottom) 17530-92
All part numbers are Chrome Parts.

After just a quick search with the outer primary number 60664-85B I've ran into a bit of confusion, somehow that number doesn't seem to make scence because its for an fxr and the fxr for 87 for sure has a short primary compared to the 89 flht which has the long primary. Then again I could be wrong.

Ok I found this little tidbit
60665-85B
Chrome Outer Primary Covers. Fits '85-'88 FXR, FLT, and FLHT models.
60665-89
Chrome Outer Primary Covers. Fits '89-'93 FXR, FLT, and FLHT models.
and I see that both list fxr. So now looking at the numbers you gave ultra and the one I put up here, is it the first 5 numbers the part number meaning if there the same on differnt years there the same fitment and the last 2 digits just indicate when the newer same part is made?

Now, I dont know if it means anything but I ordered a chrome inner primary cover and they had to know if it was an early or late 86. Said it was same as an fxr and if late 86 wasnt. My sticker says 10/85 so is early. Just saying dont really know myself. Got correct part tho. Dont have any numbers to add just personal experience. But I will say, I am saving this page to my computer for the part Numbers u gave. thanks!

The Primary is for both FLT and FXR models. After just a quick search with the outer primary number 60664-85B I've ran into a bit of confusion, somehow that number doesn't seem to make sense because its for an fxr and the fxr for 87 for sure has a short primary compared to the 89 flht which has the long primary. The chrome one for 85-88 is 60665-85B. The other number (60665-89) is listed for 89-93.
Knowing how Harley uses the part numbers, the later ones have just minor changes. The "-89" should be able to be used on earlier models.
