Hi Richie and welcome to HDF from the UK.

You're halfway there! My batwing is in fact a shovel one, dated around 1983, which I bought secondhand. Back in the day when our bikes were in production (I bought mine new) H-D actually made a kit to fit one to our bikes, but it was very expensive, hence I didn't buy a new one.

Mine is repainted and I made new mounting brackets to fit it to my bike. The original brackets it came with could have been adapted, but my brother is an ace with metal, so we made them up from scratch.

As for sourcing one, I live in the UK and chanced on mine not far from home. I buy a lot of stuff on US Ebay, which is a great source of secondhand parts, although you may have to be patient until one comes up. Fellow members may be able to suggest other places to look.

adding a fairing isn't all that difficult, it only takes patience. Here is my 80 shovelhead that's had a 92 fairing installed.

the wiring harness may seem intimidating at first, but attacking it one wire at a time will get the job done.

Mr Brown,
Thank you for your helpful information. I am the 2nd owner of my '92 and truly enjoy every mile I put on her. I noticed you have a tour pak also, I purchased one off eBay a few years ago off an '80s model, other than simple wiring it was an easy job and I can put it on or off at will. I have searched off and on for a bat wing fairing but I guess i'll have to search more often. If you ever want to discuss our scooters feel free to email me (I included my email in my previous message, if you can decode it).
Be safe out there.
Richie

I always see those older batwings at swap meets. Find one in your area.

Thank you all for the information. I knew that the Moco had a P/N for a batwing retrofit that would fit our bikes, I have searched high and low for that number knowing it's obsolete but with the number I can dig deeper. Does anyone recall or know where else I can look to find out what the number was? I've tried several boards, Google, the factory parts catalog 91/92 models, even the Moco service manual. In regards to swap meets I am in the Myrtle Beach SC area and do keep my eyes open without much success thus far, with my luck I'm sure when I stop looking I'll fall over them...until then any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again
Richie

What do you want to spend? Do you want the whole kit, or would you start with just the fairing?

Memphis Shades makes one for a 94 Road King. Might work. You could call them and find out.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, the Mrs and I spent the holidays in Florida visiting relatives. I would like to get the whole retro kit but the fairing alone would work as I'm sure I could put something together to make it work.

Thank you so much for your reply, for some reason I'm unable to open pictures posted to the board.
