What size jets are in YOUR bike?
I have been back and forth with my carb. I was running the 48 slow and 175 main jet in my CV when the bike was just pipes, intake, ignition and thunder-slide. After the install of the EV27 cam I had to bump it up to a 180 main jet. I tried the 185 and it did seem to make a little extra power but the sacrifice of midrange bog kind of made me put the 180 back in. Seems like the best compromise so far but I am not above putting the 185 back in. What jets are you guys running with your given setup?

That 185 shouldn't become a factor until 3/4 throttle and on, the midrange stumble sounds like a incorrect needle setting and the Thunderslide has a aka of opening too quickly causing a bog so my opinion is midrange needle needs attention.
A very valuable tuning device is a digital AFR gauge and worth the money spent when tuning in bikes, no guessing on jets and knowing WOT is at 13.2 can be peace of mind when your throttling hard, scoring a cylinder from a lean condition is alot more than the AFR reader and can diagnose that flat spot easy.
I have a different creature than yours but a 50/205 and yost needle is 13.8 idle, 13.8 cruise and 13.2 WOT in the white ride so take all of suggestions coming your way and get ready to pull that carb a few times.

50 int and 195 main but my carb was modded by Dale Sanders at Killer Motorcycle Products. I don't know what all he does but it runs better than any bike I have had. I average about 45mpg and plugs look perfect. You cannot make the bike spit or sputter no matter the temps. Only mods are open breather, EV27 cam and 1 3/4 pipes with baffles.
I was going to have to completely rebuild my carb and replece my slide so it only cost me a little bit more to have him mod it up.

OK, thanks guys.
I think I am going to put the 185 back in. I was just thinking it was too small, and based on what most of you guys seem to like..... it is.
1997bagger, I may not have stated my condition the best I could have. When I slam the throttle wide open at a cruising rpm of say 2500 to 3000 rpm, I was just feeling like the 180 was a tad snappier than the 185, but the 185 seemed to pull harder as it went threw the upper RPM range. Does that make sense?

Thanks again guys. Its helpful to hear what others are running and having luck with. Spanner, I don't have a 195. All I have is a 175, 180 and 185. I don't think I need any bigger but for a couple bucks I might try one, just to see. I'm gonna try the 185 for a while and maybe throw a 190 or 195 in once I get completely used to the 185. That way I will totally detect any subtle improvement or changes.

Could be very possible that the 180 with the accellerator pump is a little cleaner at the slam and pull a tad harder but lean on the top side, the 185 and accellerator pump may need to clean out alittle but closer at WOT. Trial and error is the only method to get it right so get your sitting bucket and phillips screwdriver ready.
I would put a 205 or 210 in it and adjust my cubic inches to run best with those jets
