Default 09 Seat on an 89

I have a stock 09 FLHTCI seat layin around in the garage cause I went to the late 2010 "low" seat that now is standard on touring machines. The seat that was on the 89 was pretty bad.....cracked pan and a horrible recover job. So I started playing with the idea of using the 09 seat. Setting it on the bike its really close. It mounts the same way, slotted seat, but with the center rear screw into the fender.

Sooooo I picked up the fender screw bung and screw. The tang on the 89 was to short for the 09 seat so I made a temporary extension, I need to fab a longer and stronger one, slid the seat on, marked the fender and drilled it for the mounting bung. Wa-la it fits pretty good and is VERY COMFY! The rear seat isnt perfectly level, but I think it will work ok with a backrest or tour pack.

The rear pillow looks like an ejector seat for the rear passenger. One too many back seat comments from the wife or girlfriend, a quick twist of the throttle and everyone will be able to read your "Bitch fell off" shirt.
