Default pop and then nothing?

I was riding home from work today, in the final stretch to my town, I was in 4th gear getting up to speed and ready to switch to 5th. Out of no where, the bike feels like it looses gas power, then pop (backfire out of exhaust) and then the bike dies. I safely pull over, get off the bike to find that it has no juice.. no lights or anything. I get out my phone and start thing about who I can call. I had the ignition off, after letting it sit for a few minutes, I decided to see if it had power. Turned the switch and boom, power is back and bike fires right up.
Ran fine the rest of the way home (10 miles or so) Got on it a few times, everything seems fine.
Now, the only thing I did recently was added some seafoam to the tank yesterday when I filled her up. thought maybe it would clean the carb a bit to keep her running good. But if it was carb related...why did I lose power for a little bit?

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Rob

i think its heat related. id put a blowdryer on the coil. then check all grounds then voltage reg. then try the ign.module.

losing all power, and then having it come back on after cooling down, sounds like a breaker.

Same thing happened to me, main breaker tripped. no ignition, lights, nothing. breaker cooled off, and I made it home. mine turned out to be ignition module

As stated above, probably electrical. It wasn't the seafoam.

+1 ^^^^. You can even hear some of the "pot style" breakers click when they cool off and close the circuit again...

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I ordered the damn HD manual for this machine and I am still waiting for it to come.
Once it does, I will investigate and find out where these breakers are.. lol.

Thanks again.

they should be under the fairing behind the headlight and behind the radio. That is where mine are on my 92.
