Default Runs better than the twin cam!!

So I had my carb rebuilt by Dale Sanders at Killer MC products and put an EV27 in her. After a few weeks I realized I had a vacuum leak at the petcock. Well after just bypassing the eap vacuum crap wow. I cannot believe how hard the bike pulls. It is funny because my 06 twinkie seemed to fall flat after about 55 or 60 mph. My 97 just wants to keep pulling hard after 60.

There musta been something wrong with your twin Cam bro....they have a lovely flat torque curve and just keep on revving to the limiter......

The Twinkie didn't have a cam in her though, I'm betting. I'll take a good running Evo over a Twinkie any day. Only problem is that it costs more money to get the same CIs in an Evo because of the necessary case bore.

Very few twinkies keep up with us (86 FLHT and 87 883) on the road. We blast past them and some try to keep up for a while (I think the "getting passed by a girl on a Sportster" thing get them) but after 10 miles or so, they give up.

I think this has more to do with the riders than anything, a standard TC is quicker than a standard Evo, any Harley is quicker than a standard Evo, I once beat an Evo off the lights with my Ironhead.

A good rider is worth 30HP.....but let's be realistic about Evos....they ain't quick until you mess with them.....

i was thinking the samething. my 06 twinke ran rough, my 90 evo is smoother and quieter running motor. my 06 twincam was in a base superglide so it was quiker but not by much.

Just now getting back on this thread. My comment was more about how much better this EVO is now that I have the cam in her and the modded up carb. The twin cam ran good in stock form but I am getting better gains from my EVO now and the motor just seems to take off at a certain speed. I am sure if the twin cam was modded the results would be different.

i read in american iron mag. that the twincam has too small valves for the engine and that the twincam motor runs out of steam too early because of this. donnie petersen said that the evo motor had exellent sized valves for the engine, also better flow so that the engine seems to pull better than the twincam.
