93 fatboy kickstand
so i have a quick question. i have read a few posts about the side-stand and i realize it locks in place. however the reason i was even concerned is because when it is folded out as far forward as possible it is MAYBE at a 90* angle from the bike, i feel like it should go alittle past 90 towards the front of the bike, so im wondering if some how its bent?? also the bar that is welded to the top so you can catch it with your foot to put it down is busted off so im thinking something happened and in the process it was bent.... any input would be awsome. thanx... i really do appreciate the time you all spend helping me and the others on here....
PS. just went out re installed the stand and took the bike off the jack. when on the side stand if you were to look directly down on the bike the side stand is at probobly an 80 degree angle from the bike so the stand is pointing more toward the back then directly out to the side. this isnt normal right?? it looks like it is sooooo close to folding up. what do you think?? is it bent??

It sounds like it is. If it is angled back I'd say yes. If you have to park nose end downhill any forward movement could cause it to fold. To be sure though you could ride by a HD dealer and walk through "window shopping" and eyeball the kickstand angle on the bikes in the showroom to be sure. I'll check on it for you though.

Someone on here visited the factory and watched the jiffy stands being made. They reckon there is nothing we could do that will break one! I'm inclined to agree. When I first bought a Harley back in the 70s they were a novelty here in the UK. I demonstrated on many occasions - it was a party piece - that the bike can be parked on a steep hill, pointing either up or down, and will roll dragging its stand but not fall over.
If yours has lost the foot tab that is an add on and may have been removed deliberately or by accident. That stand will cause damage to things around it before it comes to any serious harm itself.
You can have utter confidence in it!
