Default plugwirs on wrong cyl. (front vs rear cylendrs)

whoe just found the my sparkplug wires were put on backwards at the coil end!(front vs rear cyl.) po or dealer must have put them on the wrong posts at the coil if you will.
anyway i swapped them back according to my service manual and found the bike ran smoother with better throttle resp!!

i would of thought the bike would of run like sheet with the plugwires on opposite cyl.

With the stock ignition, it doesn't matter...both plugs fire every time.

I'm gonna guess based on the lack of care that the last person put into the job, that at the very least you have those wires pushed all the way on, and seated better than before. Bikes will run with loose plug wires, but they will run better when the wires are properly seated to the coil.

Love them old dual fire popping johnny's....welcome to the real Harley motor.
I always heard they fire a mill-second apart, but I never put mine in the lab.
Probably what bikerlaw said.
Once after an indy put new plugs in my bike I found the spark plug screw-on top connectors completely loose. Bike ran much better.
Have fun and good luck.

One coil firing two plugs, exact same time.

I think Bikerlaw nailed it, both plugs fire at the same time.

Don't think so. Not sure on the degree difference, but you need to be around 180 degrees so the cam turns. Wouldn't that make more sense?

Older harleys had what was known as a "wasted The coil fired both cylinders whenever a cylinder called for a spark. The cylindrer that wasn't on the combustion stroke just fired into a cylinder with burnt gas in it, hence the monicker "wasted spark". Harley claimed for years that there was no advantage to single fire system, then went to them claiming better spark, less emmissions, smoother running!!! Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it.
I for one like single fire systems as you can do a lot more with it. Hope this halps.
