Default She's quiet now!

Well I went ahead and installed new screamin' eagle adjustable push rods, adjusted them per the instructions, and just took the bike for a 30 mile ride. The tapping noise in the top end is gone. The old adjustable push rods that were in it probably just needed adjustment, but I went ahead and installed new as one of them seemed to be slightly bent to me. At any rate, it's running smooth again, no tapping noise and I'm a happy camper. Thanks for all the advice and info.

I was really happy with the Screaming Eagle push rods in my 99 also. Very quiet.

Just a note on the Screamin Eagle push rods. When I was at the dealer yesterday, they had two sets of screamin eagle push rods for evos. One package said "adjustable pushrods for evos". The other said "quick install adjustable pushrods for evos." I bought the ones that said "quick install", and they went in easy. The guy behind the counter wasn't positive about the other set, as to whether or not they would adjust down enough to go in without taking everything apart. If anyone's looking to install these you might want to make sure it says "quick install" on the package. They both may work the same, but if you're like me and live 60 miles from the dealer, there's nothing more aggravating than getting home and discovering you bought the wrong part.

The "non-quick install" will not go in unless you remove the rocker box cover and rockers.
