Default 1997 Ultra missing and poping

My fuel injected EVO started missing and popping when hot and taking off from stop light or accleration from low RPM. Started happening a few days ago, approx 1,000 miles ago and I thought it was probably bad gas. I have run enough gas through now that is not the problem. The problem is it doesn't do it every time. It actually works right more often than it fouls up. It does it with full tank of gas, half full or quarter full. It may be worse the hotter the motor is running. Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Oh, Stage I air cleaner, Rinehart True Duals, fairly new EV27 cam. 112,000 miles

Not really enough info, but start with resetting the ECM first. You may also want to dump a can of Seafoam in the tank on your next fill up to clean a sticky injector. That may clear any hiccups in the system. If it still does it my next suspect would be the engine temp sensor. May also be your coil starting to take a dump.

I'll put the Seafoam in now because I can do that. How do I reset the ECM? It has the orginal ECM and is setup for Stage I. Will just discounnecting and reconnecting the battery reset the ECM?
Thank you for the info....

disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour or so. Handle bar switch "On". Turn Key switch to "On" for 5 sec., "Off" for 10 sec. bac "ON" 5 sec. and "Off" again.

You don't perhaps have the engine light on? Does it come on at least when you start the bike?

The engine light comes on when the igintion switch is turned on. That lights goes off after a few seconds like it is suppose to. It doesn't come back on while the motor is running.

I will reset the ECM. That will be an easy fix. (Just as a thought)
After the cam and lifters were replaced the clock on the radio and the radio station presets were not changed. That should mean the battery was never disconnect or the ECM reset, right?
I am going to reset the ECM right after dinner.... thanks

Glad you found a fix. If it does it again that may be a sign that you have another issue, Temp Sensor, IAC, TPS going bad.
