Default Maybe a foot clutch and hand shifter?

My '90 E.G. is a fine bike! I got it last fall and went through it with a fine tooth comb and inspected, lubed, cleaned it all up.
Short of a so-so instrument cluster, the bike is great!
Only rode it a few thou before the snow shoved me into the shop.
My jeep project is done, my vintage trials bike is done, the tools cleaned up, shop sweeped up, organized.
Basically I'm bored to tears.............!
Looking through a vintage bike rag last night, I read an article on a Indian Service Car trike, Looking at my calendar here at work it's a cool looking '21 JD staring at me.
Both have foot clutches and hand shifters.......................hmmmm
"Wouldn't it be cool to have a foot clutch and hand shifter on my '90 evo???
Now, I haven't LOOKED at how I can do all this, haven't even look in any parts catalogs for "items", just a idea forming in my head
Has anyone done this before? Stumbling blocks?, tips? ideas?
Should I leave this bike alone and start hunting either my next project- "Then came Bronson" Sporty or a rat bobber
Joe
See this is what happens when I have too much time..................

Yeah! Yeah! Like that!!
The only draw back I can see (for me), is that I'm left handed and 99% of the time only put that foot down.
Maybe I can do this AND find/build my "Then Came Bronson" scoot??!!

Idle hands come up with weird ideas!

Just slide it into neutral as you are coming to a stop. I am right handed and that is what I do. I always put my left foot down at stops as well.

Hmmm.. It's been a long time but I remember the old foot clutch would stay disengaged if you rocked it to the rear and took your foot off..

Kool Drew,I didn't realise you had this setup! Aren't there clutch setups that ,like the previous post said that the clutch pedal will stay ingaged till you press down on it again to "takeoff? My buddy had a setup on his 2005 RK when he bought it but took it off cause he rides 2up all the time and he was worried about screwing up at stoplights!

I fabricated my own foot clutch/jockey shift setup on my old ride. I used my forward controls and changed the angle of the shift arm. For the cable stop, I used a chrome frame clamp and a footpeg clevis. I ordered a short clutch cable from Barnetts. As for the shift arm, I used a Hurst shifter for a car and bent it so that it peeked out when it was bolted to the transmission arm. I topped it all off with a vintage purple glass door **** as a shift ****. The nice thing was that everything was completely reversible--which I believe the new owner did since he couldn't ride the bike when he bought it from me! I sure miss that bike....

Yes, there are rocker clutch setups (which is what you are describing above) available on eBay; just type "rocker clutch" into the search portion of the Motorcycle Parts section; I would try to locate NOS or used stuff as opposed to repo. The rocker works on a "heel to stop & lock / toe to go" basis, whereas the foot clutches Dr V-Twin and I run are "car style"/push down-let off pedals that remind me of my dad's old VW bug. I always slide the bike into neutral the last few feet into a stop. My bike is different in that I had to move the throttle to the left side (same side as the shifter) due to an injury to my right hand so I can't grip stuff as well as I used to; this makes for a busy ride on the left hand side.

I admire folks that go with foot clutch and hand shift, takes me back to the days when I'd have to double clutch the 48 chev club coupe. Looks waaay cool, but I enjoy a more spirited ride than taking one hand off the bars. I suppose when you get used to it you can fly as fast with the foot set-up as with stock, yes??? Has to get the adrenaline flowing when things get hairy!
