Hey man sorry to dig up the semi-old thread but this is a cap I need info on. My girlfriend bought a tank on ebay some time ago that came with those same caps, I just installed it recently and both of them leak REAL BAD.

Did you have leaking issues with that cap?

BTW the website won't let me view your pics (WTF?) but I looked up the Dennis Kirk # and that's definitely the cap.

I have not had any leak issues with this cap. My bike only uses one though the vented one, Take the cap off and make sure the two tabs line up before putting it in. Sometime mine has lock down issues if the tabs are off a little. If the flip up handle doesn't flip down all way in place it isn't closed completely

Another thing park the bike in the sun and let the caps get hot and the tank then seat the caps in the tank. This will soften the rubber gaskets to conform to your tank hole.

Oh and by the way the Dennis Kirk number is for a vented cap only. If yours has two caps it'll be a different number. Let me know if you need it.

Fantastic! Now would the use of the incorrect caps cause them to leak badly? Right out from under the cap, as if there were no gasket?

Thanks again.

Yes. If the little handle isn't seated completely it will leak. Now Dennis Kirk also has non-locking caps for this tank. That way you don't have to line up the plastic ears and the metal ones. The non locking ones only have 1 set of tabs.
