We are very happy with them and have had great results with them. On the cylinders, use your existing as they have taking a set after having been heat cycled. You should probably go .010 oversized. Make sure the shop uses torque plates when they do the job. If you want to pick up a couple of extra cheap Horsepower take a look at Total Seal Gapless Rings. Hope this helps.
i agree,MAHLE pistons are a very nice product, but dont ever go by what stickers are on race cars or bikes.the stickers are on their for contingency pay,if you win,the company pays you for having the sticker on the car/bike,dosnt mean their actully using it,we know all about contingecy pay outs,we win alot

Just a thought on this.....boring HD jugs is a common procedure that has been done tens of thousands of times (at least), and if the shop doesn't know how to properly perform this task, chances are pretty good you're at the wrong shop.

I've heard that Mahle makes a good piston.
Never used them myself, so I can't speak of them first hand, however I've had outstanding performance from both JE and Wiseco.

I thought about a cam change, bumping compression, 2 into 1, ect. I am willing to spend a little more on the engine but only for significant gain. Keep in mind I want someone to dyno tune this thing when I am done. I also thought about chucking the cylinders and buying a new cylinder/piston set and just having the heads fixed. About $400 for parts and labor on heads, $300 for cyinder work and pistons. Options?, Opinions?
Does $400 or so seem high for the head work? Replace 2 guides, serdi-5 angle valve job parts and labor? Seems a little high, not sure though cant find too many other quotes but for just standard valve jobs.
What about the se cast hi compression pistions then bringing the compression to 9.5 or 9.75 to 1 with a thicker cometic head gasket?

As far as the head work is concerned, there are plenty of HD Forum sponsors who do excellent quailty work...ask around, and see what you come up with...
As far as the pistons are concerned, to each their own, but I prefer a forged piston.
