There is such a thing as low maintenance. Every woman, or man, for that matter has been booted to the curb for one reason or another. If you don't match up, you don't match up. Don't try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Just move on. my.02.

 

I totally agree. Low maintenance seems to be the designated term when two people's issues/desires/personalities are a great fit.

"Free Maintenance" however, I think is begging for trouble. If you believe that "love fixes all" and "love means never having to say you're sorry" or "you would change if you loved me" or "we shouldn't have to work at this, we're in love"- you're missing out on that long-term love, when worth having, takes a lot of work...from both people. And, it's not always a 50-50 proposition. There are times when I'll be giving 30% and my BH is then one pulling 70%, or when I'm giving 80% and he's giving 20%. There are times when I must do the mantra, "I love him, I love him, I love him." to keep from killing him. (And I'm certain he does the same for me).
Asking myself, "Do I want to be happy or right?" in the middle of an argument that doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of things, helps too.

I totally agree with you about not trying to force a relationship either; you either are compatible or you aren't. BUT, any relationship worth having will take WORK!

When my first wife left me the very next day I brought my Pan into the livingroom and the restoration began. Sure took my mind off things. Traded it for the EVO though.

(Some are easier to fix, than others.)
