Default '91 Electra Glide looking for a passenger backrest

I have a '91 FLHS that someone previously converted into a Street Glide style bike. I bought a Mustang two up seat so my wife could ride with me and I can't find a backrest for her for the life of me. I have the ability to make my own but I was hoping to find a quick detach type. The oldest I can find is for a '97. Will a backrest for some other model fit on it? Anyone know of anything that would work? Thanks for the help and I hope you guys don't mind if I post this here but the baggers section is crazy and you just get lost in the mix.

Did that bike come with a tour pack? If so, the back rest was bolted to the lid, which would by why you can't find a separate one, and I'm pretty sure there was no quick detach type in '91. I don't recall seeing anything like that anyway. I would think that the one for a '97 would probably fit. Examine the mounting arangement and compare it to what you have. Otherwise, I think you'll have to roll your own.

It originally came with a tour pack but was removed before I got the bike. I figured that was why no one made a backrest. I'll look at the '97 and see how it looks.

I know the '97 will fit a '94-95 with a washer under each quick detach point as the rear mounting points are a little narrower on them.

I bought my FLHS new and they didn't come with a tourpak as standard, although it is obviously simple to fit one. The one I have I got secondhand and is off a mid-80s Glide. So one solution is simply to buy a secondhand tourpak. One from the 80s through to the 90s will fit, especially if you still have the flat platform behind the seat. They are held on by 4 bolts, so virtually quick-release. I have connected up the lights in mine via a quick-release twist-lock connector. I don't think I have ever carried my wife without the tourpak, although I usually ride solo without it. Much easier to carry girly stuff in it than in the saddle-bags!

I don't think the whole " Detachable thing" didn't start until the mid to late 90s. My buddy had an 88 FLHS he bought new. It had a back rest ,but was bolted on. He bought it new with the bike.

See if you can find a P/N 52548-87B. It is a "Pillow-look passenger backrest pad" matches stock production seat on 87-91 FLHS models and low profile pillow look dresser seats. Includes chrome plated oval mounting brackets. Fits 87-91 FLHS equipped with luggage rack P/N 53405-87B and FLH models equipped with passenger handrail P/N 91582-79. $99.95.

That's from my 2001 HD accessory catalog.

My '84 FLTC came with a Tour Pac but the passenger backrest was bolted to it's own chrome surround, not the tour pac. I cut it off years ago, dumb move.

Krustydude, I went thru this same deal and finally just hard mounted the entire set-up thru J&P.
Bracket #8500029; Mini lowboy upright #850093 and pad #850-020 all for $209 to my door.
I wanted the detach too, but I like it hard mounted now and saved a lot of bucks too!
