need backrest pad for flhs
hello, noticed this thread and I could use some help also. I have the 4 channel backrest but it doesnt have the backrest pad. Anybody have one laying around they wish to sell. My bike is a 1990 flhtc but taking off the tourpak lowers the center of gravity of the bike and I can swing my old leg over it sooooo much easier. Mama cant store her purse, jacket, makeup bag, closet full of clothes, hair dryer, mirrors, etc. You get the idea. thanks everyone!

Edit: I just noticed it is brand new in the box, so not a bad price after all.

I’m in the process of doing this now, and its not really as complicated as the harley instruction make it out to be with all of theior part numbers and kits. You need the front docking kit. Which looks like 2 plates with 5 or 6 holes in it, and two small brackets with a hole in each end. The plates (part numbers 53758-96 and 53759-96b) bolt into the saddlebag supports, and the bracket goes from that plate to the forward-most docking point which is directly behind the shock. (Theres a Phillips head screw there now that holds on the chrome strut cover) the kit also comes with some spacers because you have to space the saddlebags out a half inch or so because the come in contact with the detachable hardware.
I bought a detach backrest used on ebay, when you line it up on the bike its fairly easy to tell what you need. When I tried to find all the answers online it wasn’t real clear.
I’m going for a streetglide look, and not using anything more than a backrest. If you wanted the docking for a rack, or tourpak it gets more complicated.
I’ll take pictures as I go along

ebayed the "front docking kit" on ebay for $40, found the detach backrest for $75
some of the ones I found also didn't have the bracket...which looks like a piece of flat steel about 6" long with a hole in each end. instructions say it should come with the backrest. here is a link to the whole kit
