Default Progressive 812 Shocks any good?

J & P has the Progressive Sus Chrome Baloney Design 812 Series 12" shocks on clearance for $302 free shipping.
Anybody have personal knowledge about them? Like or dislike?
(not rumors/first hand knowledge)

Thanks.

They look nice the only thing that would stop me from buying it would be the price. I don't think I've spent that much for all the shocks I've ever bought in my life.,

They are fancied up 412's. Probably half the Evo board and 99.999% of the Shovel board has run 412 progressives in one form or another. The 812's are the same exact shock with the added flash of billet end caps. I ran many sets of Progressive 412's and recently upgraded to the 440's. Before I would spend the extra money on 812's, I would look at Progressives 440's or look at getting custom shocks built. Both Progressive and Motorcycle Metal are site sponsors.

Thanks. I passed on them.
After thinking about it, they are 12" and I kinda wanted to go back to stock 13" for my bad back and wife.
I have the lowering shocks now and couple months ago I hit a bump on the fwy in a const zone and hurt my back for the day.
So much for this street glide ****, I'm converting back.

I am sure there are plenty of shocks out there to chose from, but after 20 years of owning my Glide and messing around with it the most important improvement I have made is custom-built Ohlins shocks. Since fitting them (stock length) I have NEVER bottomed out!

Don't buy shocks in a box off the shelf. It is a gamble that they will do what you want. You owe it to your own back as well as your wife to have a pair custom built. Give Howard at Motorcycle Metal a call. Buy new shocks once! Mine are his #3-3.

I installed new progressive 416's on my bike after trying the refill the old air shocks routine and I'm very happy with the 416 set.

That re-fill trick from Texas didn't work?
I thought I read some good results on that deal.
I was actually thinking about trying it with my old stock shocks, even bought some 7 wt fork oil.

The stock air shocks are very simple inside. Changing oil may give them a new lease of life, but isn't going to magically turn them into something they can never be!

Unfortunately very true. For me one leaked after I refilled them so I moved on to better shocks.
