Definitely NOTHING like a Sportster, more a Sportster eater! My 87 FXLR is still the biggest regret of my life... I should have NEVER sold it!

First post!

I'm the new owner of a 1985 FXRS. Nearly all original. The only questionable areas are some chrome accents, and my pipes. Not sure if those were original OEM options or not. Answering those questions is part of why I'm here!

Absolutely love the bike. Research paid off!

If you think any [stock] FXR will outrun a [stock] sportster...you ain't seen many Sportsters...
I love my FXR...But, I use Sportsters for Racing!!

Looks very much stock to me...Pipes certainly, as I don't know anyplace one can buy Cross-over staggered duals with that little rise to the front Pipe. Mufflers??? Look close enough!

This is a five year old thread. Try starting a new one and you'll get better responses.

Got a pic of those pipes? Here's the part's diagram for your bike. (Note the crossover tube and the tapered style mufflers):
