Got a 98 Roadking that has shut down twice in 3000 miles and jiggling the switch brought it back. Can I repair or replace the contacts or just replace it and if replace is the way to go HD or is there a really good aftermarket one. I don't like to do things twice....

 

We normally replace them with another HD item and record the key number. That way you can get a replacement key at any dealer or have one cut at any good locksmith as long as you have the code. We've had more than one customer call us and ask for their code number while they were on vacation. Be sure to check the connections on the back of the switch first.

 

I've cleaned them up and they only seemed to last a few more months, and I've tried the aftermarket ones and wasn't happy with the quality.

The HD ones are noticeably better.

 

There was a recall on the '98 bagger switches...............

 

i bought one on ebay 14,000 miles ago and havent ever had any problems.
