Default EVO Bagger Question

Greetings,
What year did HD start mounting the fairing to the frame on their baggers?
What models are mounted this way and was it ever an option with an EVO?

Never paid much attention to the baggers and always loved nekked bikes but as I get older, they are starting to look better and better...but not at the expense of my beloved EVO motor!

Thanks for your time!

The original frame-mount was the FLT Tour Glide, which was also the first touring bike with rubber-mounted engine. So it is the fore-runner of all modern dressers! It was introduced as a shovel in 1979 and is also the fore-runner of the Road Glide. The evo was introduced in 1984. Hope that helps!

Greetings,
Thank you for the answer and the time - I was looking at Street and Road Glides, not Tour Glides!

Well, the Tour Glide ended in 1996.....the Road Glide was introduced in 1998. '98 was the first Road Glide and last EVO in a touring frame.

I prefer the look of the classic batwing fairing.....but I had a '92 Tour Glide and I believe it was the best HD touring model I ever had. Right behind that was the '84 FXRT....should have never traded it.

You asked about frame-mounted fairings! Tour Glides and Road Glides have them. Street Glides and all the other Glides have fork-mounted fairings (or windshields).

Greetings,
Yeah, I was always a fan of nekkid bikes and never paid much attention to dressers/baggers.
As I slipped past 50 a few years back, the back started reminding me of all the miles on rigid frames so I picked up the DWG.
Want to stay with an EVO also as I don't really care for the twinkies.
Would prefer to stay with a 94 or later so that also severely limits my choices.

Have a good friend who has had 4 FXRs - he prefers the FXRPs for his personal touring scooters - he is a hardcore, uncertified ironbutt rider if there ever was one.
He bought a new Road King and a new Road Glide between his FXRs...and went back to a FXR each time.

Again, thanks for your help!

Wouldn't trade my '98 Road Glide for a newer nothing!
