I've heard alot of good things about the sundowner first hand from the guys that have them, although I'm not sure if they make them for your model.

Yeah, that's the problem we're having trying to find a seat...the bike's so old, no-one carries a seat that fits.
My beloved was hearing a rattle today while on a quick solo ride; now her guts are strewn out on the garage floor. We ordered a clutch kit today. Good news is: parts should be in mid-week. Bad news is: parts won't be in until mid-week. It would have been a perfect riding weekend!
Thanks again everyone for all of your help with the seat issue!

I have a 1985 FXSB. I have a Mustang solo seat with a passenger pad that attaches. The seat is for a 1982 FX. The seat fits just fine. I bent down the front support on the seat pan and the other mount is two bolts that go into the vertical frame post. Ta Da! FX shovel head seats fit, now just look around and find what you want. I have an old Saddleman seat that is awsome comefortable but can't find info around on it anymore.

I am the original owner of my 85 FXWG and have done the same with 2 mustang seats, the Vintage solo and the cobra solo. Both have matching detachable p pads. I just cut the 2 front forks off the bottom of the seat pan and attach the seat with only the 2 bolts/well nuts on the sides. no problems. mustang does make a couple of seats specifically for the 85/86 FX. I also have the Gunfighter.

Here is a photo of a FXSB with a mustang seat on it , so you can see what it would look like . And I guess they must make a seat that will fit if this bikes has one on it .

I have an 85 FXEF, quite similar to an FXSB with a Mustang 1 piece seat that looks good and feels as good as any seat I've sat my old *** on.
