Default bottom end bolt torque

Got the harley mechanic to do a rebuild on my 89 flht this past winter and noticed once in a while I get a bit of seepage from the rear top bolt ( blind hole ) , the manual gives torque specs for the bottom end bolts but its a bit confusing, I'd like to loosen off the bolt and put some gasket maker on the shaft and retorque back down, can someone in the know give me the torque spec? It's the top rear most bolt directly in line with the timing plug, would be just to the left of rear motor mount.

Had to do several of mine due to off-brand Hylomar I used between the cases once. Torque is 22-25 ft/lb. That's where the cavity catches the oil that's thrown off by the flywheel and returns to the gear side via the breather. I highly recommend you also use a copper washer there, without an additional flat or lock washer.

I used one of the 1/4" copper washers that comes in most all the aftermarket top-end kits and using a Uni-bit, graduated in /32" I drilled it out to a snug fit for the shoulder of the 5/16" bolt. Also, since it was for a 1/4" bolt, the outer diameter was virtualy hidden by the bolt head and it didn't show so bad. Actually I ended up doing most of my case bolts that way until I finally split it again and used RTV like I knew to use in the first place... live and learn

Thanks Rufus I'll get on that tomorrow, I think I have some copper washers kicking around from the last top end kit.
