Gas Caps that rattle

I've found the aftermarket stock replacement ones from Drag Specialties work a little better than the stock caps. They don't have the 3/4 turn of wasted travel before they start to ratchet. They will loosen up, but not quite to the point of rattling (at least mine haven't yet).
I "fixed" my old gas caps for a while by cutting thin curved strips of plastic from a coffee can lid, and forcing them under the edge of the caps. This tightened up the loose caps, but, eventually they worked loose again.

Flip the gas cap over onto a towel. Find the metal tabs that rub into the plastic underside of the gas cap and bend it in or towards the top side of the cap. If I remember correctly when I did it about two years ago I used a hammer and a very large screwdrived.
It's not hard, just bang a little at a time so it's not too tight.
