That is a crate motor, not a titled bike. And aren't all those crate motors considered '99s?

The question was: what was the last year for Evo motors....

The answer: they still make them.

Just to confuse you, I recently worked on a Twin Cam Dyna that was built in 1998 and registered in the USA in 1998.....

That was one of the reasons they weren't very well received when they were first produced. Fortunately when I'm riding my FXR, I don't see the triangle side covers, I just enjoy the ride (and it's easier to pick out of a crowd of look-alike Harleys).

There is an exception to the TC's starting in 89 and EVO's ending in 88.

The limited production FXR 1 through 4 were produced through the 2000 model year. Only about 800 ever made.

They all had a carb'd Evo engine.

The FXR on the ac cover was followed by a small number up by the R/. It identified a color. Red, black, tangerine, blue and yellow. For some reason #4 was on the tangerine and yellow bike. I think black was #1.

The 99 Softails were TC's. And of course the 99 models were available in August of 1998 for sale to be registered that year but the model year was 99.

So you drug up a 2.5 year old thread to post inaccurate information on a subject no one was asking about.

Just out of curiosity why?????

Got interested in a 2000 FXR 4 offered for sale by someone in Calif who wants 20K for it. I checked with two Dealers who each have over 40 years of HD experience. The info I posted was provided by them.

In looking for that post under search for the original FXR thread I was looking for to contact the author I stumbled on this post.

Poor dumb old (76 yoa) me I forgot to check the date.

So just what info is inaccurate? I'm sure the two dealers would like to know.

No kidding. So much of that post is factually inaccurate, it should just be deleted.
