Default DANG, wish I hadnt checked that - compression

So, was doing some normal maintenance today. Fluids, etc. Pulled the spark plugs to check em and had my compression gauge right there so I decided to do a quick check. 92 psi in both cylinders. ARGH!!!

Bike is running flawlessly and I wish I didnt know and hadnt checked the compression cause now it's stuck in my head.

Ring Job?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

If they're both the same and it runs good, leave it alone. Other things can affect compression besides rings: Hot or cold motor? Cam? Did it come up significantly when you put a tablespoon of oil down the hole?

Was the throttle held wide open when you checked?

Dr. Hess, you always make me feel better about things. Engine was completely cold and I didnt dump any oil down the cylinders. They were both exactly the same at 92 which I knew was a good thing but under 100 still worried me.

I did not hold the throttle open, am I supposed to? Never done that on any motors before.

If it ain't smokin, and ain't using a quart of oil every 500 miles, there ain't nothin wrong. Just ride it.

Alright, throttle open brought it up to 122 front and rear with the motor still bone cold and no oil down the cylinders. SO, let's go ahead and file this thread under the "I'm a moron" category and move on.

Thanks guys

It should go up a little more if you do it with the engine warm.

Yeah, don't overthink these things. When I had the little problem resulting in this:

behind the motel in Pierre, S.D., I used my built-in thumb compression tester. Thumb over the front spark plug hole: pops thumb off the hole. Thumb over back spark plug hole: not a thing. Humm, that ain't right, think that's why it's missing on the back jug.
