Default Fork air pressures

Hi you all.
Seems the air in my '91 fxr conv has leaked out of the forks.
Can anybody give me a pointer as to what pressure it is?

I do have aftermarket progressive springs fitted . Dont know
if it makes any difference

cheers

My 90 fxrs-sp shows 8-12, 20 max, depending on weight and how stiff you want the forks to be. Stock forks and springs.

Be sure to check the air each time before riding, that way you will get an idea of if or how bad the might be leaking. If they are leaking then track down the source and fix it.

yeah, know where the leak is now . pipe clip on the bars was done up tight and over time must have cut through.

have fixed it i hope and have whistled some air in there.
hopefully a bit of trial and error will do the do.

was just scared of putting too much air in and popping the system

thanx to you all

This thread came in handy for me. I have a buddy that just bought an '05 Road King and he needs air in his rears. I'll pass this information along. THANKS!

P.S. I have the bicycle tire pump and a low pressure gauge I bought for the 3 wheelers that will come in handy for this operation. Just in case anybody's wondering what to use to get it done.

Rude dog is right, hand pump only. There are a number of small hand pumps made just for this purpose and a lot of them have built in gauges.

I've not dealt with aftermarket springs at all, but OEM springs for that front end ARE different from air, to non-air ride models. So, you may not need any air at all, or a much lighter air pressure with the aftermarket springs... Just play with it and see what works for you.
