Default CV vs. Super E vs HSR42

EVO 80cu/in. with Andrews EV27 cam & SE heads. Does it make any sense to change CV carb that's been jetted? I.E is there anything (HP) to be gained by changing to Super E or HSR42? TIA

Simply, nope not if the CV is setup correctly. I have a Super E and it's a great carb and is easy to tune. That being said, I wish I had not sold my complete CV setup. Depending upon where you are at altitude wise the CV will compensate. The Super E needs to be adjusted which can be a PITA although not complicated. No experience personally with the Mikunis, but a couple of friends run them and like them.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the CV...as a matter of fact, it's a pretty damn good carb. As Buddy already said, set up correctly, the 40mm CV will perform very well up to about 95 or so inch displacement. Any bigger than that, and it just can't move enough air.
From what I understand, the Mikuni is kinda difficult to get dialed in, but once you're there, you're done...great throttle response. A couple buddies of mine run them, and it's a good carb.

Not a big fan of the S&S carbs. Just personal preference.

They are all good carburetors.....

I personally like the Super E the best.....with the OEM CV right behind that. Mikuni, I have no experience with that one.

With an EV-27 a CV with a polished and drilled slide, relaxed spring, jetted and high flow air filter does a pretty good job. It will run all day from sea level to the mountains without any glitches. I used to run S&S carbs only until I lined a CV out and kinda liked it.

I appreciate the responses. I think I'll leave well enough alone.
