The 87 FLHTC that I got was about along the same lines. The more I dug into it, the more I uncovered that was wrong. I knew the previous two owners of my bike and thought they knew their ****. Twas not the case. And to make matters worse (neither have fessed up) every nut and bolt was RED LOCTITED!!!!! Absurd.

That hurts when you get into something like that where you know the previous owner. It really can put a damper on the relationship.
This bike was just the opposite of the red lock-tite. I took half the bolts out of the primary without using a Allen socket, I guess he was relying on all the black silicone he used to hold it on! The rocker covers were torqued to, I'm guessing, 30 in. lbs.!
Oh well, if it weren't for those "I-can-do-it-by-myselfers" we wouldn't have anything to talk about.
