Oh yes.....been there and done that. Had a metric bike with us on a trip once with a bad battery and we purchased a Wally-World lawn-n-garden battery, tied it on the guys rear set and wired it up. The guy completed the entire trip and purchased a new battery that fit on the way home. We stopped back-in at the store where we bought the battery and he turned it back in for a refund.
The bike doesn't care what the battery looks like....all it wants is 12-volts.

Just catching up on this thread and the ad I can see at the bottom of my screen is:
No good to you chaps across the pond, but the coincidence amused me!

Replaced a not cared for (previous owner) lead acid battery on my 93 FXLR with a Drag Specialties (Yuasa YTX20H-BS AGM), in April of 07. It's kept on an tender and starts first hit everytime. Now that I've said that, it'll probably take a dump.
Funny thing is I went to the HD dealer first and every AGM battery they had in stock was supposed to be the right part number. Out of five checked the terminals were reversed, so the HD battery would not fit properly. This battery has given excellent service, so I'll probably go with the same one again when needed.
