Any one that criticizes some one else (or their bike) is displaying a lack of self sufficiency to become what they want to be. In this case a biker by their definition.
take the words bike and biker out, and read this. every level of society today has been weakened by the lack of respect we all have for one another.
respect one another.
and i wear harley dealer shirts almost all year. i am far from a poser or checkbook biker <-- that gave me a quick chuckle. i don't consider myself a biker?? but more of a motorcycle enthusiast that enjoys the common ground i share with you guys.

With 142 HP and 154 torque, nobody makes fun of my EVO. But if a Twinkie rider did I would probably come back with this, " You know I think I heard a funny sound coming from your engine, Have you checked your tensioners lately??" That should keep him busy for a while !!!
John,
Great answer, but now you have our attention, tell us about your Evo!

I've been riding a bike now for 35+ years and it's become somewhat of a fashion industry. From folks who've never had a bike before, and now pay more attention to detail and dress, socializing around a bike, than actually being on it. I've worn shorts and t-shirts, no logos, just being dry and comfortable for long rides is all you need...In Halifax we have a few spots where people go to talk bike talk, have a coffee and some go just to look at themselves. I go on occasion and like this forum, I can always learn a thing or two from folks who take pride in their bikes, whether its an older Indian, BSA, or Harley. I even had a chat with a guy who restored a Honda 305 Hawk (1968 maybe) Although this was probably not the bike he'd use on a long haul, this guy was proud of his bike and so he should be...He wasn't a billboard for anybody...
Anyway...enjoy riding your bike, not standing beside it....

120" Ultima that we tore down and "blueprinted" used Total Seal rings, cleaned up the heads and manifold. We changed the ignition to a Dyna, would have used a Crane, but they are getting harder to find so we figured we could learn more about the Dyna by having it on one of our bikes. We run the timing mark centered in the hole and use a VOES set at 7 Hg the ignition is set on the #2 curve. The exhaust is a 2-1 caliber, soon to be replaced by a R-B racing header. The squish area in the original engine was a little large so blueprinting it we believe gave us more swirl allowing more timing. The heads were CC'ed to giv us 10-1 compression. There are a few more little things that I rather not put out right now as we have a lot of blood , sweat and tears involved in it. Hope this answers some of your questions. Send me your E-Mail in a private message and I will send you the dyno sheet.

bikerlaw;5789201]No matter how I put this I will sound like a dick, but I don't mean to....I promise. I just think its hysterical that the twinkie crowd is now trying to puttin' down the evo guys JUST as the the evo guys have been ****in' with us Shovel guys in the exact same way for 20 years

Hi bparsel and everyone!
Just discovered this great forum by accident while googling for some HD stuff. After reading this post all way through, had to register to give my two cents.
Donīt know if itīll have the same meaning, but will try to translate from spanish languaje regarding what happened to you: "If stupids had the ability to fly, it always would be night!"
You have a wonderful motorbike and wife, but you already know that ;-) Thereīs minorities of idiots spreaded all over the planet, I think you did the best thing by just walking away and let them thinking why you ignored them. You just founded some "posers"
I have an EVO driven heritage nostalgia 93' and everyone who sees it loves it, Iīm sure you get lots of compliments on yours too ;-)
On the contrary as what happened to you, -or I may have been lucky enough - my experience here in Spain is just the opposite. The older the bike, the more respect people has for it, specially inside the Harley comunity. The fact is that I heard a lot of people say they would "kill" for having an EVO back on their bikes! They love itīs sound, feel and performance.
Regarding clothes, everyone is free to wear what they want, but no one needs or want to be forced to always dress like "Superman" or "Batman" to feel like a super-hero on their "uniforms" in order to have a ride on their bikes, as everyone here answered Thereīs no point to it.
If someone wants to dress HD from head to toes, thatīs fine and equally respectable, but donīt try to convince people thatīs "the ONLY universal correct outfit" allowed.
Cheers and regards to you and your wife (and dinosaur bike!)
P.S. I just happen to like all HD models! All of them have that "something" ;-)

I think thereīs a misunderstanding here, maybe I didnīt express myself correctly when translating. What I reffer here with the smile are not persons, is the attitude of that particular group of guys and women that were refered by bparsel. I of course apologize if you felt alluded.
Cheers
