I actually knew the original "Blue-Glue Brothers." They were truck mechanics. Reckon you got distant kin folk down here George?

Hey like I said - whatever works! I'm big on that

We normally use the cometic metal ones and even though the manufacturers do not reccomend a sealer we use Copper Coat spray, put two coats on each side allow it to pretty much dry then assemble. With this setup on properly prepared cylinders we have had no problems.

sqdealgeorge, I am calling from the 309 area code. What would be a good time to call you so I do not interrupt anything?

If it's got a HD part number, I'd try BikerBobsstore.com. They give you 20% off. Just don't need it today, as they are in no hurry to get it out the door, but it does get there.

On this page - third item from the bottom:

http://www.tejasthumpcycles.com/tools/harley_tools.htm

I never saw one "in the flesh" so I don't know whether it'll do the top or the bottom or both. For the bottom, I'd take them to the machine shop and have them chucked in lathe and cut a few thousands. It's only aluminum and couldn't cost over 30.00....

OOOPS... I just saw - that place is out of business!!!!!!!

I have one of those Trock tools I've used it several times Put the cyl upside down on a flat surface slip the heavy Trock ring over the cyl base (with some compound that comes with the tool ) Now you turn the tool CW then CCW to re surface I always used James metal base gaskets w/silicone Re assemble THEN on goes the silicone gasket maker It does the job because no one ever returned to the shop with a complaint ! Of course I moved the shop location every month !!
